Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said that people will no longer have to face corruption or harassment while availing land services. The government is working to develop a modern and technology-based land management system where people will not have to go from office to office for services.
He made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the three-day ‘Land Service Fair-2026’ at Bhumi Bhaban in Tejgaon in the capital on Tuesday (May 19).
The Prime Minister said that the government had already promised to bring land management to a modern and digital platform. There was also a clear commitment in this regard in the 31-point program and election manifesto announced before the national elections. In line with that, initiatives have been taken to bring most of the land administration services under the digital system so that citizens can get services quickly, easily and effectively.
He said, “The more technology-based land management becomes, the easier it will be to resolve land-related disputes and complications. The introduction of online services will not only reduce the suffering of the people, but also reduce the violence of middlemen in land offices.”
The Prime Minister also said that with the increase in population in the country, the amount of land per capita is decreasing. As a result, as the economic value of land is increasing, so are land disputes, lawsuits and social unrest. In many cases, these disputes are negatively impacting individual and family lives and are also creating obstacles to development activities. In this reality, planned land use, accurate record keeping and efficient management have become very important.
He said that the Ministry of Land is working on accurate land survey and record preparation using modern technology. He also mentioned that initiatives have been taken to implement another election promise of the government to the people through the Land Service Fair.
The Prime Minister said that the current government wants to ensure people-friendly services while being accountable to the people. After a long experience of rule and exploitation, the people now want to see their rights and services reflected in the state and politics. That is why the government is giving importance to implementing the promises of the election manifesto and the July Charter step by step.
He said, “Land is not just an asset; it is the foundation of people’s security, livelihoods, economic status, and future.”
Addressing the officials and employees of the Land Ministry, the Prime Minister said that providing services to the people is not a favor, but rather the responsibility of the state. She also expressed hope that the sustainable development of the country will be further accelerated by establishing a harassment-free, transparent and citizen-friendly land system.
