Government’s 60th step in two months: Demand ‘significant progress’ in implementation

  • The Prime Minister’s Office has demanded the implementation of six key initiatives in the first two months of the government’s eighteen-day action plan.

    Addressing a press conference on Saturday afternoon, Prime Minister’s adviser and spokesperson Mahdi Amin said the achievement of this period under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is “a reflection of the democratic resurgence and public aspirations”.

    The following are some of the key steps taken by the Prime Minister at the press conference:

    1. Family Card: Providing a monthly support card of Rs.37,000 to 567 families for women empowerment.
    2. Farmers’ Cards: The distribution of ten facilities to the marginal farmers has started.
    3. Loan waiver: Waiver with agricultural loan interest up to Rs 10 thousand for 12 lakh farmers.
    4. Parliamentary democracy: Thirteen ordinances in record time and prevent disappearances.
    5. River excavation: The work of excavating 20 thousand kilometers of rivers and water bodies has started.
    6. Energy control: Although the price of oil has increased in the global market, the country has increased the price of oil and the subsidy increase.
    7. Solar energy: 35MW of electricity is added to the national grid and 10 thousand megawatts by 2030.
    8. Fuel card: Piloting of fuel cards begins to collect fuel.
    9. Prices: Keeping the price of commodities under control during Ramadan and after-life even in adverse conditions.
    10. Religious Harmony: Monthly honoring Imams, Muezzins and Priests and appoint special assistants for minorities.
    11. Zakat modernization: Scientific modernization of the Zakat system to alleviate poverty.
    12. Immigrant Card: Special Cards for Immigrants.
    13. Reduce the cost of Hajj: Reduce the cost of Hajj to 12th thousand rupees and giving Nusuk Hajj card.
    14. Recruitment Plan: Three-term plan to fill 4 lakh 68 thousand vacancies in government offices.
    15. Closed factories: Initiative to reopen closed industries, including sugar mills, silk and jute mills.
    16. Industry Ecosystem: Creating a university-based ecosystem in high-tech parks and EPZs.
    17. Trillion dollar economy: Setting targets for the $ trillion economy by 2034.
    18. GDP target: A strategy to increase GDP growth to 8 percent by 2030.
    19. Foreign investment: The central bank’s obligation to facilitate investment is relaxed.
    20. Workers’ Rights: Ensuring a hundred percent salary and bonus on Eid-ul-Fitr with the combination of owners and workers.
    21. Malaysia’s labour market: Malaysia’s labour market to be reopened by reducing immigration costs.
    22. Labour market in Europe: Labour agreements with seven countries, including Serbia, Greece and Romania.
    23. Skill growth: Modernization of TTC and technical education to send skilled manpower abroad.
    24. North Bengal Development: Initiative to make North Bengal a ‘Agro Processing Hub’.
    25. Pay-pal: Work on bringing PayPal and Global Payment Gateway to Bangladesh begins.
    26. Health workers recruitment: Announcing the recruitment of one lakh health workers, where 80 percent are women.
    27. E-Health Card: Increase the security of e-health cards and hospitals in digital healthcare.
    28. Cancellation of education fees: Cancelling the re-admission fee every year and double the scholarship.
    29. Loans for higher education: Free bank guarantees up to Rs 10 lakh to study abroad.
    30. Teacher recruitment: Appointment of nine thousand religious teachers at different levels, including madrasas.
    31. Mandatory Sports: Sports are compulsory from 4th grade and new sports teachers are recruited.
    32. New buds: The journey of ‘New bud’ begins again in search of children’s talents.
    33. School kits: Distribution of clothes, shoes and bags among 2 lakh children and ‘One Teacher, One Tab’.
    34. Modernization of Madrasa: Smart classrooms and technical courses in madrasas.
    35. Sports Cards: Sports Cards and Monthly Allowances for Athletes.
    36. Green Forestry: Twenty-five crore tree plantation program has started in five years.
    37. In place of the Yamuna, the Prime Minister’s stay in his home and use his own car.
    38. Protocol Reform: Limitation of VVIP protocol and office on Saturday to avoid traffic congestion.
    39. Digital Land Services: Encommended for e-namzari and online land development tax.
    40. Padma Barrage: Padma Barrage Project to be taken up to save North Bengal from desertification.
    41. Ministers cancel duty-free cars: The historic decision of MPs and ministers not to take duty-free cars and plots.
    42. Use of jute: Compulsory use of jute products in the public-private sector.
    43. Dengue prevention: Weekly clean-up drives and community policing are strengthened.
    44. Vaccination Program: The closed measles vaccine has been restored across the country.
    45. Anti-extortion drive: Intelligence surveillance and police reform to stop extortion.
    46. Electric buses: Eco-friendly buses and ‘Pink Bus’ service for women in Dhaka.
    47. River Protection Act: The provision of five years in jail and a fine of Rs 15 lakh for river occupants.
    48. Energy saving: Strict instructions on the use of AC and lights in government offices.
    49. Merit-based recruitment: Appointment of headmaster and principal through NTRCA.
    50. Energy Security: The initiative to set up the second unit of the Eastern Refinery.
    51. Pavement rehabilitation: The work of disciplined rehabilitation of footpath traders.
    52. Freedom of speech: No action will be taken against anyone even after criticism from the Prime Minister.
    53. Third Terminal: Steps to be reopened the third terminal of Shahjalal Airport.
    54. Free Wi-Fi at all major airports in the country.
    55. Internet by train: Free internet connection to moving trains and technical institutions.
    56. Economic Diplomacy: The embassy’s priority to attract manpower exports and investment abroad.
    57. International relations: Strengthen solutions to water and border issues with neighbours and all countries of the world.
    58. Prevention of money laundering: An agreement with ten countries to identify and recover the money smuggled.
    59. Long-term planning to tackle the risks of climate change.
    60. Human rights protection: There has been no precedent for human rights violations in the last two months and legal protection.
