Ten more bills have been passed in the National Assembly as part of the process of converting the ordinances issued by the interim government into law. The bill was approved on Friday (April 10th) at the 13th morning meeting of the first session of the 13th National Assembly.
The bills were passed unanimously without detailed discussion as there were no amendments to the bills. Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed presided over the session.
According to the recommendations of the Parliamentary Special Committee, ninety-eight of the 133 ordinances issued by the interim government have been proposed for passage with ninety-eight unchanged and fifteen amendments. The remaining twenty are recommended to be repealed and sixteen amended as new bills.
On the same day, Housing and Public Works Minister Zakaria Taher introduced five bills related to Narayanganj, Barisal, Mymensingh, Comilla and Rangpur Development Authority in Parliament, which was passed unanimously.
Cultural affairs minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury presented the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (Amendment) Bill. Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Abdul Awal Mintu proposed the passage of the Bangladesh Forest Industries Development Corporation Bill. Both bills were approved by Parliament.
Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury introduced three bills on deposit protection, excise and salt, and value-added tax and supplementary duty amendments, which were also unanimously passed.
According to government sources, the main objective of the initiative is to maintain administrative continuity and strengthen legal foundations by converting the ordinances into law.
