Liberation War Affairs Minister Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed (Bir Bikram) has been elected as the Speaker of the 13th National Parliament. State Minister for Lands Kaiser Kamal has been elected as the Deputy Speaker in the same session.
The presiding member of the parliament, Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, said that only one nomination was submitted for the post of speaker. When the proposal was raised in the parliament, it was approved by voice vote and Hafiz Uddin Ahmed was elected as the speaker.
Similarly, there was only one nomination for the post of Deputy Speaker. After the proposal was raised in the parliament, Kaiser Kamal was elected Deputy Speaker after receiving approval by voice vote.
Earlier, at the beginning of the session, Leader of the House and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman announced Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain as the president of the session.
According to the parliamentary procedure, an important step in the formal activities of the Thirteenth National Parliament has been completed with the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
