The first session of the 13th National Parliament will begin at 11 am on Thursday. The Speaker and Deputy Speaker are scheduled to be elected on the first day of the session, and they will be sworn in by President Mohammad Shahabuddin.
BNP Standing Committee member and Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed gave this information to reporters after leaving the National Parliament building on Wednesday afternoon.
He said, “In the first session, the President will address the Parliament. Various good proposals will be raised and discussed in the session. Later, the Law Minister will present 133 ordinances in the Parliament.”
According to Salahuddin Ahmed, several important and historic decisions are likely to be taken in tomorrow’s session. He added that there may be a temporary break after the session continues until March 15.
Earlier, the ruling party BNP held a parliamentary meeting in the 13th National Parliament. The meeting, held at the government party meeting room of the National Parliament Building, was presided over by Parliament Leader and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. The meeting discussed the new session and the overall activities of the parliament.
Jamaat-e-Islami has said that they will make a final decision on the post of Deputy Speaker only after the discussion on the ‘July Charter’ in Parliament.
