The United States and Israel have launched a joint military operation in Iran, Israeli media reported. The Times of Israel reported that the ongoing attack is a coordinated operation between the two countries, with one of the main targets being the Iranian presidential palace.
Israel’s Channel 12 reported that the operation is also targeting the residences of Iran’s top leadership and facilities from which attacks against Israel could be launched. So far, there have been no reports of any missiles hitting Israeli territory, but citizens have been ordered to stay near safe rooms.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz called the operation a “preemptive strike.” He said the move was aimed at eliminating a security threat to the state.
In a statement from the White House in the context of this military operation, US President Donald Trump said that he was not satisfied with the results of the Iran-US nuclear talks in Geneva. He alleged that Tehran has not yet agreed to completely abandon its nuclear weapons program. Trump said, “We do not want to use force, but in some situations it becomes inevitable.”
