Hibatullah Akhundzada, the top religious leader of the Taliban government, has been killed in a surprise military operation in Afghanistan, the international open source intelligence agency Osint Europe has claimed.
The organization said that Pakistan’s military operation carried out targeted attacks in multiple locations, including Kabul, early Friday morning. In a message on social media, Occent Europe claimed that the Pakistani air force attack killed several senior commanders, including Akhundzada, at the Taliban headquarters in Kabul.
Pakistan has reported that at least 133 Taliban fighters were killed and more than 200 were injured in the operation. However, the Taliban government has not yet made any official comment on this matter. On the contrary, Kabul claims that none of its top leaders were killed in the Pakistani attack; rather, 55 Pakistani soldiers were killed in the Afghan counter-operation.
