Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami released its election manifesto on Wednesday evening ahead of the 13th national parliamentary elections. The party said that if given the opportunity to form a government, it will run the state by prioritizing 26 sectors.
The manifesto highlights youth-led governance, strengthening women’s safety, building a technology-based society, implementing the July Charter, and eliminating fascist rule as key goals. According to Jamaat, these priorities will form the foundation of the future state structure.
In addition, the party has outlined 41 other long-term ‘visions’, which include issues of economy, good governance, and social justice.
Through the announcement of the manifesto, the party wants to send a clear message of its policies and priorities in the election race.
26 issues will be given priority
1. In the light of the slogan ‘Bangladesh without compromise in national interests’, the formation of a state without compromise in independence, sovereignty and national interests.
2. To build a humane Bangladesh based on justice, fairness and equity, free from discrimination.
3. Empowering youth and prioritizing them in running the state.
4. Building a safe, dignified and participatory state for women.
5. Building a safe state free from extortion and terrorism through overall improvement of the law and order situation.
6. Establishing honest leadership at all levels and building a corruption-free state through institutional reforms.
7. Building a technology-based modern and smart society.
8. Creation of large-scale employment in various sectors including technology, manufacturing, agriculture and industry. Free application for government jobs, recruitment based on merit and elimination of all forms of discrimination.
9. Building an investment- and business-friendly, sustainable and transparent economy by restoring confidence in the overall financial sector, including banks, through reforms.
10. Ensure a well-organized and effective democracy by creating a fair electoral environment, including proportional representation (PR) elections, and strengthening the oversight government system.
11. Ensure justice for past state-sponsored murders, disappearances, and extrajudicial killings and ensure fundamental human rights.
12. The history of the July Revolution will be preserved, the families of martyrs, the injured and disabled July fighters will be rehabilitated, and the July Charter will be implemented.
13. To create a revolution in agriculture by using technology in agriculture and increasing cooperation with farmers.
14. Build a ‘Green and Clean Bangladesh’ by achieving complete food security and implementing the ‘Three Zeros Vision’ (zero environmental degradation, zero waste and zero flood risk) by 2030.
15. Industrialization and employment generation on a large scale by establishing heavy industries along with the development of small and medium industries and ensuring a friendly environment for domestic and foreign investment.
16. Increase the wages and living standards of workers and create a quality working environment, especially a safe working environment for women.
17. Ensuring all rights of expatriates, including voting rights, and ensuring proportional and realistic participation in nation-building.
18. Establishing civil rights for all citizens of Bangladesh, not majority-minority, and ensuring special benefits for backward citizens and classes.
19. To provide modern and universal healthcare and ensure free and improved medical treatment for the poor and helpless population in phases.
20. Fundamental reforms of the education system and ensuring free education in phases, keeping in mind the needs of the contemporary world.
21. Ensuring stability by keeping commodity prices within purchasing power and ensuring full provision of other basic needs.
22. Reorganize the transportation system and gradually reduce the road/rail distance between the capital and the country’s divisional cities to two-three hours. Bring about fundamental changes in the country’s regional communication and internal transportation system of Dhaka.
23. Ensuring low-cost housing for low- and middle-class families.
24. To prevent the rebirth of the fascist system in Bangladesh by continuing the ongoing trial and reform activities for the complete elimination of the fascist system.
25. Ensure a secure working life and international standard social security for all citizens through the introduction of a universal social security system.
26. Establish a happy and prosperous welfare state by ensuring good governance through transparency and accountability at all levels.
