Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Mohammad Ejaz has been banned from leaving the country by a court. Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge’s Court Judge Md. Sabbir Faiz issued the order on Sunday following an application by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The ACC application states that an investigation is underway against Mohammad Ejaz on charges of abuse of power, irregularities, corruption and bribery. The allegations include irregularities in various important activities of the city corporation, including the lease of livestock market, e-rickshaw project, market and shop allocation, van service and sidewalk management.
The ACC said that Ejaz did not appear despite being summoned as part of the investigation and there is a risk of him leaving the country. Taking these arguments into consideration to ensure a fair investigation, the court banned him from traveling abroad.
