A fire broke out on the second floor of a multi-storey building in Sector 11 of Uttara in the capital. So far, six people have been reported dead in the fire. Initially, the fire service reported three deaths, but later the toll increased to six.
Thirteen more people injured in the fire have been rescued and admitted to Kuwait Friendship Hospital.
The fire broke out on the second floor of a seven-story building located on Road No. 18, Sector No. 11, Uttara on Friday (January 16) morning. The fire service said the fire was reported at 7:50 am.
Within four minutes of receiving the news, two units of Uttara Fire Station reached the spot and started extinguishing the fire. After about half an hour of effort, the fire was brought under control at 8:25 am and completely extinguished by 10 am.
According to the fire service, two men and one woman were among the dead. The cause of the fire and the identities of the victims were not immediately known. The authorities concerned have launched an investigation to uncover the real cause of the incident.
