Good news for football fans – the main trophy of the FIFA World Cup has arrived in Bangladesh. The much-awaited golden trophy landed in Dhaka around 10 am on Wednesday. After the formalities, preparations have been made to display it at the Radisson Hotel.
A trophy display will be held for a limited number of selected spectators after noon, but the general public will have limited access. Former Brazilian midfielder Gilberto Silva, who won the 2002 World Cup, has arrived in Bangladesh with the trophy.
The trophy is on a world tour as part of the ‘FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola’, a joint initiative of Coca-Cola and FIFA. The tour, which began in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on January 3, will visit 75 destinations in 30 countries.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the biggest tournament in history, with Canada, Mexico and the United States jointly hosting the 48-team, 104-match event for the first time.
