Uncertainty over Bangladesh’s participation in the T20 World Cup has deepened. A letter sent by the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) security department has expressed concerns that the presence of Mustafizur Rahman in the Bangladesh team could increase security risks.
Confirming the matter, Youth and Sports Advisor Professor Asif Nazrul said, “The ICC letter mentioned three reasons, one of which centered on Mustafizur Rahman’s presence. However, details were not provided on why his presence would increase the security risk.”
Other reasons include the movement of Bangladesh team supporters wearing national team jerseys and the deterioration of the overall security situation as the election period approaches. Asif Nazrul said that although player selection is a technical matter, raising questions about a specific player on the pretext of security is worrying.
After this letter from the ICC, new confusion has arisen regarding Bangladesh’s participation in the World Cup and team formation.
