The Election Commission (EC) has temporarily suspended the voting process in Pabna-1 and Pabna-2 constituencies in the 13th National Parliament election on a court order in a boundary dispute case. The elections in these two constituencies will not be held until further orders from the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court.
Election Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Machud said the EC took the decision after receiving the court order on Thursday night. He said the election process for these two constituencies will depend on the court’s final decision.
According to the schedule announced by the EC, the country’s 13th national parliamentary elections are scheduled to be held on February 12. There is also a decision to hold a referendum on the implementation of the July Charter on the same day. However, this schedule will not be effective in Pabna-1 and 2 constituencies for the time being.
