The Meteorological Department has said that the country may experience severe cold in January and the temperature may drop to a minimum of 4 degrees Celsius. There is a risk of a total of five cold waves blowing in different parts of the country this month.
Director of the Meteorological Department Md. Mominul Islam said that out of the possible cold waves, 2 to 3 will be mild to moderate and 1 to 2 will be moderate to severe. As a result, the severity of cold weather may increase throughout January.
The forecast says that there is no risk of a cyclone or depression in the Bay of Bengal during this time and normal water flow will continue in the major rivers. However, moderate to dense fog may occur in various parts of the country from midnight to morning, which may cause temporary disruption to air traffic, shipping and road communication.
The Meteorological Office also said that temperatures are likely to gradually decrease in different parts of the country in the next few days. Considering the severity of the winter, the authorities have advised the general public to prepare in advance.
