Principal Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus has extended his greetings to all Bangladeshis living at home and abroad, including the world, on the occasion of the English New Year 2026. In a message given on Wednesday, he expressed his hope that the bonds of harmony, goodwill and brotherhood will be further strengthened in the new year.
In his message, the Chief Advisor said, “New Year means the beginning of new dreams, hopes and possibilities, which provide new enthusiasm and inspiration to move forward on the path to a better future. May the New Year bring happiness, peace and prosperity to everyone’s lives.”
Calling for a united effort to build a democratic Bangladesh, Muhammad Yunus said that in the new year, all challenges will be faced together and a state of equality, justice and non-discrimination will be built.
He further said that in the changed context after the July Uprising, the new year is very important for national life. He expressed hope that the journey that has begun towards democratic transition by reforming the flawed state system will be completed through a national election and a referendum on the July Charter Implementation Order in the new year.
The chief advisor stated that the elections and referendum will further accelerate the country’s democratic progress by confronting all kinds of conspiracies—this is the nation’s biggest expectation in the new year.
