BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman visited the grave of Inqilab Mancha convener Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi. He went to the graveyard adjacent to Dhaka University’s central mosque around 11:30 am on Saturday, laid flowers and paid his respects and participated in prayers and supplications.
Earlier, his motorcade left his Gulshan residence at around 10:45 am. Chhatra Dal leaders and activists took position at the TSC area of Dhaka University surrounding Tarique Rahman’s arrival. DU Chhatra Dal President Ganesh Chandra Roy Sahas and General Secretary Nahiduzzaman Shipon, along with leaders of various units, were present.
Security was tight. Two levels of barricades were set up from TSC to the grave of Shaheed Osman Hadi; barricades were also put up towards Shahbagh and police were deployed.
It is worth mentioning that on December 12, Inqilab Manch spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi was shot dead on Box Culvert Road in Purana Paltan. He later died while undergoing treatment in Singapore. He was buried next to the tomb of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam adjacent to the central mosque of Dhaka University.
