BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has left the VVIP lounge of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and boarded a pre-arranged bus to attend a public reception at the 300-feet area of Purbachal. Several lakh leaders and activists are waiting to welcome him there. Party sources said he will deliver a brief speech at the rally.
After the reception, Tarique Rahman will visit Evercare Hospital in Bashundhara to meet the BNP Chairperson and her mother Khaleda Zia, who are undergoing treatment. After that, he will go to ‘Firoza’, residence number 196 in Gulshan.
Earlier on Thursday, Tarique Rahman arrived in Dhaka on a Bangladesh Biman flight with his wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman and daughter Barrister Zaima Rahman at 11:40 am. Returning home after 17 years, he was welcomed at the airport with flowers by his mother-in-law Syeda Iqbal Mand Banu and members of the BNP standing committee.
Earlier, at 9:55 am, Bangladesh Biman flight BG-202 carrying them landed at Sylhet’s Osmani International Airport. After a brief stop there, the plane departed for Dhaka at 11:13 am.
