Sheikh Faisal Noman, the long-time muezzin of the Holy Mosque of the Prophet in Medina, has passed away (Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un). His funeral was held at the Prophet’s Mosque after the Fajr prayers on Tuesday (December 23). He was later buried at the historic Jannatul Baqi graveyard.
According to Inside the Haramain , a website about the two holy mosques , Sheikh Faisal Noman was appointed as the muezzin of the Prophet’s Mosque in 1422 AH (2001) and served in this role for almost 25 years—until 1447 AH. His melodious call to prayer and religious devotion had a profound impact on the hearts of millions of Muslims around the world.
Sheikh Faisal Noman inherited this honor from generation to generation. His grandfather was the muezzin at the Prophet’s Mosque, and his father was appointed to this position in his teens. With his death, the Muslim Ummah has lost a dedicated servant.
