The funeral of Inqilab Manch convener and July Revolution martyr Sharif Osman Hadi was held at the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building on Saturday. Lakhs of people participated in one of the largest funerals in history.
The prayer was led by Shaheed Hadi’s elder brother Dr. Abu Bakr Siddique. The funeral was attended by the chief advisor to the interim government Dr. Muhammad Yunus, as well as top leaders of BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami and NCP.
Earlier, the body was brought in a procession from the National Heart Institute. After the funeral, Hadi’s body was taken to Dhaka University for burial next to the grave of poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.
Osman Hadi died on Thursday night while undergoing treatment in Singapore after being seriously injured in a gunshot wound on December 12. His death was observed on Saturday in state mourning.
