In view of the current security situation in Dhaka, the Indian High Commission has temporarily closed the Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC) located at Jamuna Future Park. The decision came into effect from 2 pm on Wednesday (December 17).
A notice published on the IVAC Bangladesh website said that applicants whose appointments were scheduled for visa submission today will be rescheduled on a new date.
Although the decision was reportedly made due to security concerns, no specific timetable has been given for when the center will reopen.
It is worth noting that earlier on Monday, the US Embassy in Dhaka also issued a security alert for US citizens in Bangladesh, fearing possible political rallies and protests. Such cautious steps by foreign diplomatic missions in the space of two days are raising fresh questions about the security situation in the capital.
