At least seven people have been killed after a bus carrying schoolchildren fell into a deep ditch in a rural area in northern Colombia. Local officials said at least 20 others were injured in the accident.
On Sunday night, Antibiotics Division Governor Andres Julian said the bus crashed on its way back to Medellín after a school trip to the Caribbean coastal city of Tulu. Antiokeno High School students were on the bus.
The governor said the students were returning to the beach to celebrate their graduation. The cause of the accident was not immediately known.
He described the period of December as a “deep moment of mourning” for the entire community.
