The Election Commission has announced the schedule for the 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum. In an address to the nation on Thursday evening, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin said that the formal campaign will begin from January 22 and will continue till the night of February 10—that is, the campaign will end 48 hours before the vote.
The election and referendum will be held on February 12, 2026, with continuous voting from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The number of voters in this year’s election is over 127.6 million. For the first time, a large number of expatriate Bangladeshis will also be able to vote by post; more than 300,000 expatriate voters have already completed their registration.
The schedule announced today states that a referendum on the implementation of the July National Charter will also be held on the same day. This is the first time that a national election and a referendum are being held simultaneously.
