BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman will return home very soon, party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has claimed. “The day Tarique Rahman sets foot in Bangladesh, the entire country will tremble,” he said.
He made these remarks at a program titled ‘Plan for Building a Nation’ organized on the occasion of Victory Month at the Krishibid Institution Auditorium in the capital’s Farmgate on Thursday. More than a thousand leaders from various organizational units attended the program.
Mirza Fakhrul said that despite facing various obstacles and campaigns, the BNP has never been defeated. He claimed that the people and nationalist ideology will provide strength to the party.
He said that the announcement of the election schedule has created an “opportunity to build a new Bangladesh.” A representative parliament led by BNP will determine the future course and will be led by Tarique Rahman.
Calling on leaders and activists to remain united in the movement against the ruling party, he said that this election is not an “Awami League-era election”; it must be truly impartial. Victory must be ensured by winning the hearts of the people.
At this time, he recalled the BNP’s past reformist role and said that Ziaur Rahman’s multi-party democracy, openness of the media, independence of the judiciary, and women’s education and economic modernization during Khaleda Zia’s time – these are examples of the party’s reformist practices.
The program was presided over by Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and moderated by Habib Un Nabi Khan Sohel. Other party leaders were also present.
