Ahead of the elections, the government is taking all necessary preparations to organize a “fair, festive and acceptable” vote, said Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.
After a meeting of the Law and Order Advisory Committee at the Secretariat on Monday, he said that all forces responsible for the elections have already intensified training activities and preparations will be completed by January.
The advisor said that body cameras of law enforcement officers will be used to ensure a smooth environment at each center. In addition, measures are being taken to ensure uninterrupted power supply on voting day.
He admitted that it is not possible to completely reduce crime to zero before the elections. “I don’t have any magic,” he said, adding that law enforcement agencies are on the ground and working to control the situation.
Amid the heat in the political arena, he said, “All parties are in the field now. Some are not wanting to enter the field—they have their own problems due to political reasons.”
Regarding the murder case of a freedom fighter couple in Rangpur, the Home Affairs Advisor said that strict orders have been issued to catch the criminals and emphasis is being placed on speeding up the investigation.
