Preparations are almost complete to take BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to London for advanced treatment. Qatar’s Royal Air Ambulance has been kept ready round the clock; however, the final decision depends on the medical board—the ambulance will land in Dhaka only after they declare her ‘fit to fly’.
On Saturday, BNP Chairperson’s advisor Enamul Haque Chowdhury said that regular communication is going on with the Qatari authorities and all the arrangements related to the journey have been made by them. At the same time, Qatar has taken the initiative to bring another high-quality air ambulance from Germany.
However, according to doctors, Khaleda Zia’s physical condition is not yet suitable for air travel. Several important tests have been conducted in the last few days, the evaluation of the reports of which is still ongoing. The medical board is monitoring her physical condition every day.
Former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, 79, has been undergoing treatment at the CCU of Evercare Hospital in Dhaka since November 23. An expert board led by Professor Shahabuddin Talukder is treating her. The team includes BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman’s wife and physician Dr. Zubaida Rahman, who arrived in Dhaka from London on Thursday.
There is no specific date yet for when she will be taken to London; the decision depends on Khaleda Zia’s physical fitness.
