There has been a major last-minute change in plans to take BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to London for advanced medical treatment. Instead of the Qatari government’s special air ambulance, a German-based private medical jet will now carry her.
Diplomatic sources said that the Challenger 600 Series (CL60) air ambulance of the German company FAI Rent-A-Jet GmbH will fly from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to London at 3:20 pm on Saturday. The plane will make a stopover in the Georgian capital Tbilisi on the way.
The decision was taken after it was not possible to send Qatar’s Airbus A319 air ambulance, which had been under discussion for several days. Earlier this year, Khaleda Zia was taken to London in the special air ambulance of the Emir of Qatar.
When Khaleda Zia, who is undergoing treatment in the CCU at Evercare Hospital, will be considered fit to travel depends on the final decision of the medical board.
