Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has banned all types of gatherings and gatherings around the Secretariat, the administrative center of Dhaka, and the official residence of the Chief Advisor, ‘Jamuna’. The decision was taken to maintain security and public order in view of the politically sensitive time.
A public notice signed by the DMP Commissioner issued on Thursday said that from December 6 until further notice, no assembly, procession, human chain or mass gathering will be allowed in the entire area between Hotel Intercontinental Crossing, Kakrail Mosque, Officers Club and Minto Road Crossing.
The DMP argued that the immediate implementation of this ban was necessary to ensure the security of the chief advisor and to ensure the smooth running of national administrative activities.
Although there is no indication as to how long this ban will last, many believe it could be long-term in the context of political instability.
