The country’s three service chiefs visited BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, who is undergoing treatment at the capital’s Evercare Hospital, on Tuesday night, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed.
According to the ISPR, the army, navy and air force chiefs reached the hospital at night and inquired about Khaleda Zia’s treatment and overall condition.
Khaleda Zia has been in hospital for several days in a serious condition. After her condition deteriorated, security was tightened and the government decided to elevate her to ‘Very Important Person’ (VVIP) status.
This visit by the three service chiefs is being seen as an important symbolic step in the political and administrative arena.
