In Bogura’s Shajahanpur, a woman allegedly killed her two children by slitting their throats before taking her own life, according to police. The victims have been identified as Sadia Mostarim (24) and her two children, Saifa (4) and Saif (2).
Local sources say the incident occurred between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday in Khalishkandi village, Khottapara Union. It is believed that Mostarim, reportedly driven by family disputes, first killed her children with a knife and then hanged herself from a beam in her home.
Shahadat Hossain, a serving army personnel stationed in Mymensingh, was reportedly sleeping in an adjacent room at the time. Neighbors alerted the police after noticing the bloodstained scene. Police recovered a bloodied knife from the house.
To determine the exact circumstances, Shahadat Hossain has been taken into police custody. According to OC Shafiqul Islam, he is also mentally distressed and will be questioned once he is in a stable condition.
The bodies have been sent to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital morgue.
