A cold wave sweeping across northern Bangladesh has tightened winter’s grip. On Tuesday, the country’s lowest temperature—12.8°C—was recorded in Tetulia, Panchagarh, with humidity at 99 percent. Residents reported biting cold at dawn, though conditions became more tolerable once the sun rose.
According to the local weather office, Tetulia’s temperature has fluctuated between 12°C and 14°C over the past week. The rise in cold-related illnesses has led to increased patient numbers—especially children and the elderly—at the district hospital.
Locals say the early-morning chill makes going outdoors difficult, while sunlight brings some relief. Meteorologists noted that nighttime temperatures are dropping rapidly and hinted at the possibility of a mild cold wave toward the end of November.
