The Election Commission (EC) has decided to suspend all updates and corrections to National Identity Cards (NID) until the upcoming 13th parliamentary election, scheduled to be held in February next year.
The government has also requested the EC to hold a referendum on the same day. In preparation, the Election Commission has begun all necessary arrangements for voter list preparation and printing.
As a result, the EC has decided to halt all NID correction activities, including address changes, until the parliamentary election is completed or until further notice, according to Md. Saiful Islam, Director (Operations) of the National Registration Wing.
He confirmed that from this afternoon onward, no NID updates will be accepted until the national election concludes or new instructions are issued.
