From 8 a.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday, eight more people died from dengue across the country. During this 24-hour period, 778 new patients were admitted to hospitals.
The Health Emergency Operations Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported the figures in a press release issued Sunday (23 November).
According to the release, among the 778 newly hospitalized dengue patients:
Barishal Division had 83 cases,
Chattogram Division 134,
Dhaka Division (outside city corporations) 121,
Dhaka North City Corporation 129,
Dhaka South City Corporation 81,
Khulna Division (outside city corporations) 112,
Mymensingh Division 44,
Rajshahi Division 48,
Rangpur Division 19,
Sylhet Division 7.
In the same 24-hour period, 1,111 dengue patients nationwide were discharged from hospitals. With this, the total number of recoveries this year has reached 87,442.
From January to now, a total of 90,264 patients have been hospitalized due to dengue in 2025. So far this year, 364 deaths have been recorded.
For context:
In 2024, from January 1 to December 31, 101,214 patients were hospitalized and 575 deaths occurred due to dengue.
In 2023, dengue claimed 1,705 lives, with 321,179 hospitalizations—the highest on record.
