India’s Army Chief, General Upendra Dwivedi, reiterated on Monday that the country will take a tough stance against terrorism. He warned, “Terrorists and their supporters will be treated the same way, and if Pakistan continues to back terrorism, it will face a major challenge.”
The Army Chief emphasized, “Dialogue and terrorism cannot coexist. We remain committed to peaceful processes, but until then, a firm stance will be maintained.”
He also cautioned Pakistan, stating that India views Operation ‘Sindur’ as an ‘88-hour trailer’ and that the armed forces are ready to teach neighboring countries responsible behavior.
On nuclear threats, General Dwivedi said, “Today’s India does not fear blackmail. Our new approach to counter-terrorism (‘New Normal’) poses the biggest challenge to Pakistan.”
The Chief added that the country’s political leadership is determined to strengthen defense capabilities, and India’s deterrence is robust and effective. Regarding ties with China, he noted that discussions over the past year have led to some improvement in bilateral relations.
On Jammu and Kashmir, he said that after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, political clarity has emerged and terrorism has largely declined. Referring to Manipur’s development, he hinted that President Droupadi Murmu may also visit the region.
