A cocktail explosion occurred under the Karwan Bazar Metro Station in the capital on Sunday around 7:30 p.m., briefly spreading panic in the area.
Police provided differing accounts regarding which station has jurisdiction over the scene.
Kolabagan Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Moniruzzaman Khan said unidentified individuals detonated two cocktails and fled immediately. He added that the spot does not fall under his station’s jurisdiction.
Tejgaon Police Station’s OC Mobarak Hossain, however, stated that the location lies on the boundary between two police stations, making exact jurisdiction difficult to determine. According to him, the explosion site falls within Kolabagan’s area.
Masud Alam, Deputy Police Commissioner of Ramna Division, said initial information suggests the incident occurred within Tejgaon’s jurisdiction. Regardless of the jurisdiction, all units are working together in the investigation, he noted.
No casualties were reported, but law enforcement remains on alert given the recent series of similar incidents in the capital.
