BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that if elections are held, Jamaat will cease to exist, which is why they are trying to delay the elections with various excuses.
He made these remarks on Tuesday (November 11) at an exchange of views meeting held at the KK Bari Laxmirhat High School field in Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila.
Fakhrul further stated, “After nine long months of discussions with political parties in the name of reforms, if unresolved issues are forced upon, the interim government will have to take responsibility.”
Regarding the NCP, he said that there is not a single NCP member in the area. That is why they are aligning with Jamaat. They want PR (proportional representation), but the people do not understand it. This is the reason behind the attempt to postpone the elections.
The meeting was attended by district BNP President Mirza Faisal Amin, General Secretary Poigam Ali, Sadar Upazila President Abdul Hamid, and other party leaders and activists.
