The investigation into the murder of iconic Dhallywood actor Salman Shah is gaining momentum as police move to arrest the accused. A travel ban has been imposed on all suspects to prevent them from fleeing the country, and law enforcement agencies are currently tracking their locations, confirmed Ramna Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Omar Faruk.
“We have information that some of the accused are abroad, while others are still in the country. Immigration authorities have been officially notified to prevent them from leaving. We are working as fast as possible and expect to bring the accused under the law very soon,” said OC Faruk.
On October 20, the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court ordered that Salman Shah’s unnatural death case be treated as a murder case. Within 24 hours, Salman Shah’s uncle, Alamgir Kumkum, filed a murder case at Ramna Police Station.
Salman Shah, one of the most popular actors of the 1990s, was found dead at his residence on September 6, 1996. His death was initially ruled a suicide by his then-wife Samira Haque, but the actor’s family has consistently claimed that he was murdered in a planned way.
The case names 11 accused, including Samira Haque as the prime suspect. Other accused are film producer Aziz Mohammad Bhai, actor Don, Latifa Haque Lucy, David, Javed, Faruk, Ruby (owner of Mefia Beauty Center), Abdus Sattar, Saju, and Rezvi Ahmed Farhad.
OC Omar Faruk stated, “A travel ban has been issued for all accused, and we are moving quickly to arrest them. Hopefully, all suspects will be brought under the law very soon.
