Foreign Affairs Adviser M. Touhid Hossain has dismissed the claim that Bangladesh has canceled 10 agreements and projects with India, saying the information is inaccurate. He clarified, “During the tenure of Sheikh Hasina’s government, only one agreement with India was canceled.”
Speaking to journalists at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday (October 21), the adviser said that the list shared by Local Government Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan on Facebook was not accurate. “Most of the projects mentioned in that list did not actually exist. Only one agreement — the tugboat supply deal with Indian defense company GRSE — has been canceled,” he added.
Touhid Hossain further stated that the review process of several bilateral agreements and projects with India is currently ongoing.
Earlier, Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan claimed on his verified Facebook page that 10 agreements signed with India during Sheikh Hasina’s tenure had been canceled and that several others were under consideration.
