The fire that broke out at the cargo village of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday (October 18) afternoon has been completely brought under control, the Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry confirmed.
According to an official press release published on the verified Facebook page of the Chief Adviser at 8:53 PM, the fire started around 2:15 PM. Due to the quick and coordinated efforts of the Fire Service and Airport Authority, the blaze was fully extinguished within a few hours. The ministry also confirmed that no casualties occurred in the incident.
The statement added that Sheikh Bashir Uddin, Adviser to the Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry, was personally present at the airport, closely monitoring the overall situation.
The ministry further announced that an investigation will soon be launched to determine the cause of the fire and take necessary preventive measures to avoid such incidents in the future.
