Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has officially become a voter in Dhaka’s Gulshan-2 area. His previous address listed on the National Identity Card (NID) — the Grameen Bank Complex in Mirpur — has been changed to his residence in Gulshan-2. As a result, he will cast his vote in the designated polling center in Gulshan during the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election.
According to Election Commission (EC) sources, Muhammad Yunus submitted an application to change his voter area in February this year. The application was approved on February 17 by the Director General of the EC’s NID Wing, and the updated information was recorded the following day.
Previously, he was registered as a voter under the address of Grameen Bank’s headquarters in Mirpur. With the updated address, he is now listed under Ward No. 19 of the Dhaka North City Corporation.
EC officials said that transferring a voter’s area is a routine process. Citizens must fill out the prescribed Form-13, attach required documents, and submit them to the local election office. After verification and approval from the NID Wing, the voter’s address and NID information are updated accordingly.
EC Director of Public Relations Ruhul Amin Mallik stated, “Changing a voter’s area is an ongoing process. Once the required documents and forms are verified and approved, the updated address is incorporated into the NID database.”
Thus, in the upcoming 13th National Election scheduled for February, Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus will exercise his voting rights from his new constituency in Gulshan.
