A total of 309 Bangladeshi nationals are voluntarily returning home from Tripoli, the capital of Libya. Their repatriation process was completed on Thursday (October 9), and they are expected to arrive in Dhaka today (Friday, October 10).
According to the Bangladesh Embassy in Tripoli, this repatriation was made possible through the embassy’s relentless efforts and with the cooperation of the Government of National Accord of Libya. The returnees are expected to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 11 a.m. on Fly Oya Airlines flight YI5040.
The embassy’s Charge d’Affaires and Minister (Political), Kazi Asif Ahmed, saw the returnees off in Tripoli. He stated, “The embassy worked tirelessly to ensure the safe return of Bangladeshi nationals. This moment of reunion with their families is also a moment of joy for us.”
Embassy officials further mentioned that the process of repatriating other stranded and distressed Bangladeshis from Libya will continue in phases.
