A woman named Lamia Akter (22) from Chadakathi village in Bauphal upazila of Patuakhali has given birth to five babies at once. The rare event took place at Barishal Diabetes Hospital’s maternity ward around 1 p.m. on Monday (October 6) through a normal delivery.
According to Lamia’s mother, among the newborns, three are boys and two are girls. She said, “Alhamdulillah, both the mother and the babies are doing well.”
News of the incident spread quickly, causing a huge stir at the hospital and surrounding area, as curious locals gathered to catch a glimpse of the newborns, calling it a “miraculous event.”
Dr. Mashiur Rahman, the attending physician, confirmed that both the mother and the babies are healthy and under observation at the hospital.
He added, “Although such cases are extremely rare, everything went smoothly. It’s not only a remarkable event but also a joyful one for the medical community.
