Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has warned that the struggle by Muslims will continue until Palestine is free and demanded the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whom it labelled a war criminal.
The party made the call at a protest rally and procession held after Friday (3 October) prayers at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram Mosque in Dhaka. The demonstration was organised jointly by Jamaat’s Dhaka North and South metropolitan wings to protest the attack on the humanitarian flotilla “Global Sumud,” the arrest of human-rights activists, and Israel’s wider aggression on Gaza.
Speakers at the gathering alleged that Israel is now targeting innocent women and children in Gaza. They also sharply criticised what they described as collaborators in the Muslim world who support Israel.
Muhammad Selim Uddin, Amir of Jamaat’s Dhaka North, urged a firm stance by the Muslim world against Israeli actions. Rafiqul Islam Khan, the party’s assistant secretary-general, vowed that the fight for Palestinian independence will continue until liberation, reiterated the demand for Netanyahu’s arrest, and called for the immediate release of the detained humanitarian activists.
The programme concluded with a procession from Baitul Mukarram to Kakrail.
