The dengue situation across the country has taken an alarming turn. From 8 a.m. Monday to 8 a.m. Tuesday, a total of 557 new patients were admitted to hospitals, while three more people died from the disease during this 24-hour period.
According to a bulletin issued Tuesday (September 30) by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 557 patients were admitted across the country in the last day. Among them, 101 in Dhaka North City, 113 in Dhaka South City, 79 in Dhaka division (outside city corporations), 70 in Chattogram, 137 in Barishal, 28 in Mymensingh, 25 in Rajshahi, and 3 in Sylhet.
Meanwhile, 612 patients across the country were discharged after recovery in the past 24 hours. With this, the total number of patients discharged this year has risen to 44,796.
DGHS data shows that since January, 47,342 people have been hospitalized with dengue, while the death toll has climbed to 198. Notably, 76 people lost their lives in September alone.
