The dengue situation in the country remains alarming. In the last 24 hours (from 8 a.m. Sunday to 8 a.m. Monday), 735 new patients were admitted to hospitals with dengue, while three more people died from the disease.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the figures in a bulletin issued by its Health Emergency Operations Center and Control Room on Monday (September 29).
According to DGHS data, the highest number of new hospitalizations was reported in Barishal division with 166 patients. Chattogram recorded 98, areas outside Dhaka city corporations 156, Dhaka North City 121, and Dhaka South City 95. Additionally, 39 were admitted in Khulna, 35 in Mymensingh, 57 in Rajshahi, 14 in Rangpur, and 4 in Sylhet division.
Within the same 24 hours, 555 dengue patients were discharged after recovery. This brings the total number of recoveries this year to 44,184.
Since January, a total of 46,786 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country. So far this year, the disease has claimed 195 lives.
