Britain has expressed its willingness to assist in ensuring that Bangladesh’s upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election is held in a peaceful, free, and fair manner. British High Commissioner to Dhaka, Sarah Cook, conveyed this interest on Monday (September 29) after a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A. M. M. Nasir Uddin at the Election Commission office in Agargaon, Dhaka.
She said, “We want to support the organization of peaceful and fair elections in Bangladesh. In particular, we are interested in assisting with polling staff training and voter education programs.”
It may be noted that the Election Commission is preparing to hold the national election in the first half of February next year. As part of its preparations, the commission is holding discussions with envoys from various countries.
