The dengue situation in the country has once again taken a serious turn. In the past 24 hours, four more people have died from dengue, bringing the total number of deaths this year to 192. During the same period, 845 new patients were admitted to hospitals across the country.
According to a bulletin issued on Sunday (September 28) by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), among the newly admitted patients, 166 are from Barishal, 91 from Chattogram, 101 from Khulna, 54 from Rajshahi, 37 from Mymensingh, 17 from Rangpur, and 6 from Sylhet. In Dhaka city, 97 patients were admitted in the north and 112 in the south. Of the four recent deaths, two were reported in Dhaka South and two in Dhaka North.
The DGHS further informed that since the beginning of this year, a total of 46,051 dengue patients have been hospitalized. In 2024, more than 101,000 people were infected and 575 lost their lives to dengue. The year before, in 2023, the country recorded its deadliest outbreak with 1,705 deaths and 321,179 hospital admissions.
