Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus delivered his address in Bangla at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). He began his historic speech on Friday (26 September) at around 9:30 PM Bangladesh time.
In his speech, Dr. Yunus is expected to highlight the reform measures undertaken by the interim government, the spirit of the July 2024 mass uprising, the pledge to hold free and fair national elections in February 2026, the trial process of the July killings, and the ongoing Rohingya crisis.
Earlier, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam stated that Dr. Yunus would inform the global community about the reform initiatives taken by the interim government over the past 14 months and the progress in Bangladesh’s economic recovery. He added that the government’s steps to ensure a democratic transition would also receive special emphasis in the speech.
