Riyadh, September 24, 2025:
Sheikh Dr. Saleh Ahmad bin Humaid, the Chief Imam and Khateeb of Masjid al-Haram, has been appointed as the new Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia.
He was given the position on Tuesday, following the passing of former Grand Mufti Dr. Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Sheikh. According to Al Arabiya, the Saudi Royal Court will soon release further details regarding the appointment.
Prior to this role, Sheikh bin Humaid served as the head of the Presidency for the Affairs of Imams and Khateebs of Masjid al-Haram and Masjid an-Nabawi. He also delivered this year’s Hajj sermon.
A senior member of the Council of Senior Scholars and one of the longest-serving Imams of Masjid al-Haram, Sheikh bin Humaid has long played a vital role in Islamic scholarship, wisdom, and judicial leadership. His insightful sermons and profound erudition have earned him deep respect across the Muslim world.
