Officials and staff at Rajshahi University (RU) have announced a complete shutdown starting Monday, September 22. The information was confirmed on Sunday, September 21, by Moktar Hossain, president of the Officers’ Association.
According to him, essential services such as the university’s central student council (RACSU) election-related activities, water, electricity, and transportation will remain operational during the shutdown.
In recent days, protests have been ongoing among teachers, officials, staff, and students over the hostel quota issue. On Sunday, the university syndicate decided to keep the hostel quota suspended.
Moktar Hossain said, “We are disappointed with the administration’s decision. The same facility is available in other universities across the country, but we are being denied it. Therefore, we have decided on a complete shutdown.
