BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that those who dream of changing society and call for revolution must first strengthen and solidify their organizations. Without reaching out to the people, no real transformation is possible.
He made the remarks on Friday (19 September) at a memorial meeting organized at the Bangla Academy’s Sahityabisharad Auditorium to mark the passing of Comrade Badruddin Umar.
Mirza Fakhrul said that Badruddin Umar never compromised on his ideals and struggles throughout his life. “It is unclear how much the new generation has absorbed from him, but his unwavering stance remains an inspiration for us,” he added.
He further stated, “Revolution succeeds only when there is a strong organization. The main reason behind today’s frustration is the lack of organizational strength. Those who want to bring change must strengthen their organizations and go directly to the people.”
The memorial began with a minute of silence and the singing of the Communist International anthem, followed by the screening of a documentary on Umar’s life.
Other speakers at the event included Mahbubullah, Comrade Khalekuzzaman Bhuiyan, Dr. Akmal Hossain, Comrade Sajib Roy, and Professor Sirajul Islam.
